GE investing $250 million in upgrades to Appliance Park

A recent article from Louisville Business First details the improvements in progress at GE’s Appliance Park. The intent is to “vertically integrate the company by bringing some operations in-house that previously were outsourced to suppliers.”

As the article points out, it’s an interesting time for these upgrades. In early April GE’s Building 6 in Appliance Park was destroyed by fire, and Electrolux is taking over the company as soon as their $3.3 billion acquisition deal closes this year. Still, according to Rob Willy of GE, “You’ve got to remain relevant in the marketplace.”
